What ideas about society is Kelly suggesting by calling the play DNA?

Dennis Kelly uses the title of his play DNA to allude to a number of concepts about society, such as the significance of genetic inheritance, the idea of identity, and the influence of group dynamics.

First of all, the play’s title, DNA, alludes to the significance of genetic inheritance. The genetic code that determines our physical characteristics and traits is found in DNA, which is the basic building block of life. Kelly emphasises the idea that our genetic make-up plays a significant part in determining who we are as individuals by naming the play after this biological concept. The play itself echoes this idea, especially in the character of Phil, who is labelled as having “the worst genes” (Act 1, Scene 1)
