In what ways does Newspeak limit the independent thinking and self-expression of Oceania’s citizens?

Newspeak, the language created by the Party in George Orwell’s novel, 1984, is designed to limit independent thinking and self-expression of Oceania’s citizens in several ways:

Limited vocabulary: Newspeak aims to reduce the richness and complexity of language by eliminating words that are considered unnecessary or politically subversive. The Party seeks to control and narrow the range of thoughts and ideas that can be expressed by restricting the vocabulary available to the citizens. This limitation of vocabulary prevents citizens from expressing nuanced and complex thoughts, and it limits their ability to question or challenge Party doctrines.
