Explore how Shakespeare presents the effects of the conflict between the Capulet and Montague families.

The conflict between the Capulet and Montague families significantly affects the course of events in Shakespeare’s play “Romeo and Juliet.” Shakespeare illustrates the effects of this conflict throughout the play through the behaviour of the characters, their interactions, and the language he uses to describe the conflict.

The play’s tragic conclusion is one of the main consequences of the conflict. Romeo and Juliet are two of the characters who pass away as a result of the conflict between the two families. In Act 5, Scene 3, Prince Escalus describes the outcome of the feud, saying, “See what a scourge is laid upon your hate, / That heaven finds means to kill your joys with love” (5.3.292-293).
