In the wilderness, Edgar meets a man named Henry, who lives alone and befriends him. Edgar learns survival skills from Henry and begins to understand the complexities of human nature and the choices people make. He also learns that Henry has his own tragic past and secrets.
Meanwhile, back at the Sawtelle farm, Trudy becomes suspicious of Claude’s actions and begins to question her own decisions. She starts to investigate Gar’s death and discovers the truth about Claude’s involvement. Trudy confronts Claude and a struggle ensues, resulting in Claude’s death.
Edgar, still unaware of the events unfolding at the farm, continues to live in seclusion with Almondine. However, tragedy strikes when Almondine sacrifices herself to save Edgar from a wild animal. Heartbroken and alone, Edgar returns to the farm to find closure and reunite with his mother.
