Kazuo Ishiguro: Never Let Me Go
The dystopian society depicted in Kazuo Ishiguro’s “Never Let Me Go” is one in which human clones are raised solely for the purpose of organ donation. Despite this grim and deeply unsettling premise, the characters in the book exhibit a sense of acceptance and resignation and appear to accept their fate without hesitation. Due to this, some readers have argued that the novel does not adequately explore the characters’ potential for rebellion and resistance.
